What each ingredient does

Shrimp
Provides the main protein, which firms and turns opaque as it cooks.
Butter
Adds fat and richness, carrying flavor through the sauce.
Garlic
Adds pungent aroma that deepens as it cooks in the sauce.
White wine
Adds acidity that brightens the sauce and balances its richness.
Worcestershire sauce
Adds savory depth and umami to the sauce.
Angel hair pasta
Provides a thin strand base that the sauce clings to.

The step that matters

Cooking the shrimp. Shrimp proteins tighten and turn rubbery when overcooked, so the long simmer risks a tough texture. Watching for the shrimp to turn opaque helps keep them tender.
