What each ingredient does

Cream cheese and spinach ravioli
Provides the main body of the dish, with pasta dough that cooks to a tender bite.
Cream
Adds richness and fat, helping the sauce turn smooth and thicken when reduced.
Bush tomato chutney
Adds sweetness and acidity, giving the sauce its distinctive flavour.
Parmesan cheese
Adds savoury, salty depth and helps the sauce cling to the pasta.
White wine
Deglazes the pan, lifting browned flavour from the onion and garlic into the sauce.
Butter
Adds fat and flavour for sautéing the onion and garlic.

The step that matters

Reduce the sauce until slightly thickened. Cream thickens as water evaporates and its proteins and fat concentrate. Stopping too early leaves a thin sauce that will not coat the pasta, while over-reducing can make it greasy or grainy.

Swap the clove

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream cheese, spinach, pasta, lemon, onion, garlic, cream):

  1. Capersfits better
  2. Cuminfits better
  3. Parsleyfits better
  4. Clovethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against cream cheese, spinach, pasta, lemon, onion, garlic, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
