Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Sirloin steak
Provides the main protein; browning it in butter gives it savory flavor and a seared surface.
Butter
Adds fat for browning the meat and enriches the pan sauce with rich flavor.
Green onions
Softened in the pan, they add mild sweetness and aroma to the finished dish.
Beef broth
Deglazes the pan, lifting browned bits into the sauce and adding savory depth.
Chili sauce
Adds sweetness, acidity and heat to the sauce that coats the meat.

The step that matters

Remove the meat from heat but keep it warm. Searing the meat and then holding it off direct heat keeps it tender and juicy. Overcooking it during the later reheating will toughen the proteins and dry the strips.
