Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Brownie mix
Forms the baked chocolate base that holds the caramel and cheesecake layers.
Eggs
Set the cream cheese layer and add structure as they bake.
Cream cheese
Provides the dense, creamy body of the cheesecake layer.
Caramels
Create the sweet, chewy caramel layer and the drizzle.
Evaporated milk
Helps the melted caramel become smooth and pourable.
Sugar
Sweetens the cream cheese layer and balances its tang.

The step that matters

Add the eggs one at a time, blending well after each. Adding eggs gradually and mixing just until combined keeps the batter smooth. Overbeating after the eggs go in whips air into the batter, which can cause puffing and cracking as it bakes.
