Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Chicken breasts
Provide the main protein, which turns firm and opaque as it cooks through.
Black peppercorns
Form a sharp, aromatic crust that adds flavour and texture to the outside.
Lemon juice
Adds acidity that brightens the dish and lifts the flavour of the pan drippings.
Olive oil
Conducts heat in the skillet and helps the chicken brown and the crust stick.

The step that matters

Cooking to 165°F internal temperature. Chicken breast dries out quickly once it passes the safe point, so checking the internal temperature with a probe prevents overcooking while ensuring it is cooked through.
