Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Potatoes
Break down during long cooking to thicken the broth and give the soup body.
Butter
Adds fat for a rich mouthfeel and carries flavor through the soup.
Evaporated milk
Adds creaminess and a smooth, mellow dairy richness to the finished soup.
Onions
Release sugars during slow cooking, adding sweetness and savory depth to the base.
