What each ingredient does

Chicken breasts
Provide the main protein, which turns firm and opaque as it cooks through.
Baking potatoes
Bake to a soft, fluffy interior while the chicken cooks in the same oven.
Plain flour
Coats the chicken, helping it brown and thickening the juices in the dish.
Vegetable stock
Adds moisture so the chicken and vegetables steam and stay tender in the covered dish.
Peppers
Soften during stir-frying, adding sweetness and body to the base of the dish.
Paprika
Contributes colour and a mild, smoky-sweet flavour to the chicken coating.

The step that matters

Covering the dish and timing the oven. Covering the casserole traps steam so the chicken cooks gently and stays moist. Adding it after the potatoes have baked 30 minutes keeps all components ready together.

Swap the oregano

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (potato, onion, pepper, flour, chicken, broccoli):

  1. Garlicfits better
  2. Turmericfits better
