Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Granulated gelatin
Sets the liquid into a soft, sliceable structure as it cools.
Whipped cream
Adds fat and airiness, making the set mixture lighter and creamier.
Cherry juice
Provides the main flavor and liquid base of the cream.
Sugar
Sweetens the mixture and balances the tartness of the cherry juice and lemon.

The step that matters

When the mixture is cold enough to hold together, add one cup of whipped cream.. If the gelatin mixture is still too warm, the whipped cream will deflate and lose its air. If it has already set firmly, the cream will not blend in evenly and the texture will be lumpy.

Swap the cherry

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, cream):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Raspberryfits better
  4. Cherrythe original

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, cream. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
