Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cranberries
Provide the tart fruit flavour and colour that form the base of the frappe.
Sugar
Sweetens the cranberry mixture and balances its tartness.
Lemons
Add acidity that brightens the flavour and sharpens the tartness.
Eggs
Whites beaten stiff add foam that lightens the texture of the frozen frappe.

The step that matters

Adding the beaten egg whites. Whites must be beaten stiff so they trap air. Folding them into a cooled, smooth base keeps that air, giving a light, smooth texture rather than a dense, icy one.

Swap the lemon

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, egg):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Raisinfits about as well
