Black Part. — One cup of brown sugar, half a cup of butter, Half % cup of sour milk, two cupfuls of flour, one cup of chopped raisins, one teaspoonful of soda, dissolved in warm water, one tablespoonful of molasses, the yolks of three eggs, one tablespoonful of cinnamon, one of nutmeg, half a one of cloves.

White Part. — One cup of flour, half a cup of corn starch, half a cup of sweet milk, half a cup of butter, one cup of sugar, one large teaspoonful of yeast powder, the whites of three eggs. Bake both like jelly cake, and put together with icing.
