Directions
To one full grown fowl, pour on two gallons of cold water, and set the pot on the back of the stove, so that it may cook slowly for three hours. Skim several times, then place the pot where it will boil slowly, and thicken with two table-spoonfuls of flour, mixed with a little cold water. One tea cup of rice, one tea cup of cream or sweet milk, salt and pepper to the taste ; and just be- fore serving throw in a little parsley and thyme. — Mrs. Martin.
