Directions
One chicken, cut up and fried brown ; one pint of lard ; then take out, and fry two or three slices of beef in same gravy ; five dozen pods of okra sliced and fried brown ; six onions chopped and fried ; a large pan of tomatoes chopped up. Put these ingredients into three quarts of water ; boil two hours ; season with pepper and sauce to taste, and serve hot.
