One and one half pints of cold boiled rice ; put it in a pint of milk cr water to soak the night before, one quart milk added next morning, one quart flour stirred in the rice and milk, two eggs well beaten (separately), one half tea-spoonful of soda dissolved in a little hot water, one tea-spoonful salt ; stale bread crumbs may be mixed with the rice by the above rule, leaving out the flour, except just enough to make the cakes turn well on the griddle.
