The flavor team

The pairs that carry this dish. Each one is judged two ways: how much their aromas overlap, and how often cooks already put them together.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Yolks enrich the mixture and help bind the cream into a smooth, rich base.
Sugar
Sweetens the base and lowers the freezing point, keeping the ice cream softer.
Oranges
Juice adds the main flavor and a bright acidity that balances the sweetness.
Cream (in the method)
Fat gives the ice cream its smooth, creamy texture and mouthfeel.

The step that matters

Fold the whipped cream into the yolk mixture. Whipped cream holds air that gives the ice cream lightness. Folding gently keeps that air in, while vigorous stirring deflates it and leaves a denser result.

Swap the orange

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (sugar, egg):

  1. Vanillafits better
  2. Raisinfits better
  3. Lemonfits better
  4. Orangethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against sugar, egg. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
