4 ^ggs, 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, i lemon, i heaping teaspoon baking powder, i scant cup cold water, pinch of salt. Beat the yolks and sugar together twenty minutes, adding 3 or 4 tablespoons water and beat five minutes. Add flour and lemon, last of all add whites after they have been well beaten. Stir as little as possible after adding the whites.
