The flavor team

The pairs that carry this dish. Each one is judged two ways: how much their aromas overlap, and how often cooks already put them together.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set during baking to give the custard structure and body.
Cream
Adds fat for richness and a soft, tender texture.
Milk
Provides moisture that loosens the batter and carries the flavor.
Flour (in the method)
Its starch sets in the oven, giving the batter structure.

The step that matters

Fill three parts of each mould with the batter. Leaving room above the batter lets it rise in the oven without spilling over the puff paste, while overfilling can make the bakes overflow and cook unevenly.

“What each ingredient does” and “The step that matters” were written by Claude from this recipe’s own method and reviewed in samples by CompKitchen.
