Ingredients
- 1 pint milk
- ¾ cup butter, divided
- 1 cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling
- 1 yeast cake
- flour, as needed
- 2 eggs
- English currants
- cinnamon

Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast cake in it.

Stir in the butter and sugar, then gradually add flour until the mixture is not too stiff.

Once the dough is light, work in the eggs and let it rise again.

Roll out the dough to 1 inch thick and spread with remaining butter.

Sprinkle generously with sugar, currants, and cinnamon.

Roll the dough like a jelly cake and cut into slices about 2 inches thick.
