Ingredients

  • lean pieces of mutton
  • 1 quart of water
  • medium sized potatoes
  • onions
  • turnips
  • cabbage (optional)
  • seasoning to taste
  • good stock (optional)

Directions

Cut mutton into strips and place in a pot with 1 quart of water.

Stew until nearly tender.

Add potatoes, onions, turnips, and cabbage if desired.

Season to taste and cook until vegetables are tender.

If liquid boils away, add good stock, preferably mutton stock.

Serve hot with meat and vegetables together.
