Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Corned beef
Provides the main meaty flavour and body of the hash.
Mixed vegetables
Add bulk and moisture, and their sugars help the surface brown.
Stock or gravy
Moistens the chopped mixture so it holds together and cooks through.
Drippings
Fat that conducts heat and browns the surface of the hash in the pan.

The step that matters

Turning the hash. The hash must form a firm, browned crust before turning, or it will break apart. Cover with a plate and turn quickly, so the cake lands intact and the second side can brown in fresh fat.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (corn, beef, pepper):
