Baking Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 300°F (150°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. Grease the cake pans with lard.

  3. Cream the butter and sugar together until soft and creamy.

  4. Beat the eggs until light and foamy.

  5. Sift the salt and baking powder with the flour.

  6. If using fruit, roll it in flour and add it last.

  7. Mix the ingredients in an earthen bowl with a wooden spoon.

  8. Bake the cake as soon as the batter is mixed.
