Venetian Cakes

Oven, in the book's wordsA moderate oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

Make the dough

  1. Cream the butter and powdered sugar until light.

  2. Add the beaten egg yolks, chopped nuts, flour, and vanilla; mix well.

Shape and bake

  1. Take small pieces of the dough, roll them in powdered sugar, and form into balls.

  2. Place a nut on top of each ball and arrange them an inch apart on a baking sheet.

  3. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
