Ornamental Icing
Ingredients
Directions
Bake the cake and remove it from the mold when cold.
Prepare icing that is thin enough to run smooth but not run off.
Place the cake on a plate and spoon the icing on top, allowing it to run down the sides until covered.
Let the icing drain for a minute, then use a knife to transfer the cake to another plate.
Set the cake in a warm place to dry.
Pipe additional icing to follow the pattern of the cake, decorating any plain areas as desired.
Optionally, decorate with gum drops, flowers, and silver leaves.
