Guava Shortcake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Mash the guavas and mix with sugar. Let stand for 2 hours.

  2. Make a biscuit dough and bake it in a pie tin at 400°F (200°C).

  3. When done and still hot, cut the edges and pull apart with forks.

  4. Turn the crumb sides up and butter them.

  5. Place the sugared guava on both sides, leaving the juice in the container.

  6. Layer one piece on top of the other.

  7. Serve the sugared guava juice as a sauce with the shortcake.
