Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set when heated, binding the salmon and forming the omelet's structure.
Salmon
Provides the main filling and rich flavour, and is mixed into the egg.

The step that matters

Cooking the omelet over low heat. Eggs set gently at low heat, staying tender and moist. Higher heat toughens and dries the proteins and can scorch the butter before the middle sets.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (salmon, egg, butter):

  1. Capersfits better
  2. Parsleythe original
  3. Nutmegfits about as well
  4. Dillfits about as well
