What each ingredient does

Gelatine
Sets the juices so the fruit holds together as a firm, sliceable frozen block.
Grapes
Add juicy bulk and sweetness that freeze into the set fruit mass.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatine fully. Gelatine only sets when it is completely dissolved and evenly distributed. Undissolved granules leave soft or gritty spots, so the frozen mixture may not hold together when sliced.

Swap the orange

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (pineapple, grape):

  1. Mangofits better
  2. Strawberryfits better
  3. Applefits better
  4. Orangethe original

Fit is the average pairing score against pineapple, grape. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
