What each ingredient does

Strawberries
Provide the flavour and juice that make up the body of the drink.
Tartaric acid
Adds sharpness that balances the sweetness and brightens the strawberry flavour.
Powdered sugar
Sweetens the juice and dissolves readily, so it blends in without granules.

The step that matters

Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Powdered sugar dissolves quickly in liquid, but undissolved grains left in the juice can settle and leave the bottled drink uneven in sweetness. Stirring thoroughly before bottling ensures an even result.
