Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Butter a large white china meat platter.

  3. Place a layer of oysters on the platter.

  4. Season bread crumbs with coarse sea salt, black pepper, and finely chopped parsley.

  5. Sprinkle the seasoned bread crumbs over the oysters and dot with butter.

  6. Add another layer of oysters and more seasoned crumbs.

  7. Top with strips of breakfast bacon and bits of butter in between.

  8. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes.
