Baked Apple Dumplings

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Roll out the dough thicker than pie crust.

  2. Enclose a handful of sliced ripe apples well covered with butter and sugar.

  3. Bring the edges together to form dumplings.

  4. Place the dumplings side by side in a pudding dish.

  5. Spread more butter and sugar over the dumplings.

  6. Pour enough boiling water to half cover the dumplings.

  7. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven until nicely browned.
