Lemon Candy

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes.

  2. Add a little hot vinegar to clear the mixture, removing any scum that rises.

  3. Test the mixture by lifting it with a spoon; it should form threads that snap like glass.

  4. Pour the mixture into a tin pan.

  5. When nearly cool, mark the candy into narrow strips with a knife.

  6. If desired, stir in chopped coconut or sliced nuts before pouring into the pan.
