Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, beat together the sugar and butter until creamy.

  3. In a saucepan, boil the chocolate and beaten egg together, then add ½ cup of milk.

  4. Once dissolved, mix this into the butter and sugar mixture along with the remaining ½ cup of milk.

  5. Stir in the vanilla, flour, baking soda, and baking powder until well combined.

  6. For the filling, heat the square of chocolate, sugar, and ½ cup of milk in a saucepan until dissolved.

  7. Remove from heat and stir in the yolk of the egg and 1 tablespoon of butter until smooth.
