Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a hot oven”. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Mince the cold chicken and season with pepper, salt, and onion.

  3. Moisten the mixture with chicken gravy or cream sauce.

  4. Fill scalloped shells lined with pastry with the chicken mixture.

  5. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top and place tiny pieces of butter over each one.

  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
