Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare the filling

  1. Cut the mutton into small pieces or mince it if cooked.

  2. Lay the mutton in a pie dish.

  3. Slice the onions.

  4. Mix the sliced onions with the meat, adding salt and pepper.

  5. If the meat is cooked, pour ⅓ cup of stock over it.

Make the topping

  1. Boil the potatoes.

  2. Mash the boiled potatoes with the milk.

  3. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat.

  4. Smooth the potatoes with a knife dipped in milk.

Bake

  1. Bake for 1 hour at 350°F (175°C).
