Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Hard-boiled eggs
Form the firm, sliced centre of each sausage-wrapped piece.
Sausage
Forms the savoury meat casing that surrounds and seasons each egg.
Raw egg
Beaten raw egg brushed on the outside helps the coating bind and brown when fried.
Bread crumbs
Listed in the record, but no method step states how they are used.

The step that matters

Covering the eggs completely with sausage. Any gap in the sausage layer leaves egg exposed, and the wrapper must be sealed well so it holds together during frying.

Swap the parsley

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, bread):

  1. Nutmegfits better
  2. Parsleythe original
  3. Capersfits about as well
  4. Marjoramfits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, bread. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
