Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, combine the milk, sugar, eggs, bitter almonds, and flour.

Bake and serve

  1. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.

  2. Bake for 40 minutes, stirring after the first 10 minutes.

  3. If desired, add the jam in the center before pouring the batter around it.

  4. After baking, empty the jam into the center.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Set the batter into a custard-like structure as they cook.
Flour
Thickens the batter and gives the pudding body as it bakes.
Milk
Provides the liquid that makes the batter pourable and gives a tender texture.
Sugar
Adds sweetness and helps with browning on the surface.

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (milk, sugar, egg, flour):

  1. Almondthe original
