What each ingredient does

Raspberries
Provide the main fruit flavor and aroma, and color the liquid.
Vinegar
Adds sharp acidity and extracts flavor from the berries.
Sugar
Adds sweetness that balances the sharpness of the vinegar.

The step that matters

Boil the mixture. Boiling with the sugar dissolves it fully into the juice, so the syrup is evenly sweetened before it is sealed.
