Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 400°F (200°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Mix salt and Snowdrift in sifted flour.

  2. Dissolve yeast cake in tepid water with 2 tablespoons sugar.

  3. Mix thoroughly, adding yeast mixture to make a soft dough.

  4. Let the dough rise for 4 to 5 hours.

  5. Add the well beaten eggs and butter, and work well with your hands.

  6. Place in a greased tube cake pan and let rise until doubled in bulk.

  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 35 to 40 minutes.

  8. Finish baking with one burner turned halfway off for 25 minutes.
