Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Break the macaroni into pieces.

  2. Boil the macaroni in plenty of water for about 1 hour, adding more water as it soaks in.

  3. Layer the cooked macaroni in a baking dish with grated cheese and a sprinkle of coarse sea salt.

  4. Nearly cover the layers with milk.

  5. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 30 minutes.

  6. If desired, add a beaten egg before baking.
