The flavor team

The pairs that carry this dish. Each one is judged two ways: how much their aromas overlap, and how often cooks already put them together.

Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Whipped cream
Provides airy volume and a light, creamy texture once frozen.
Ground kisses
Adds sweetness and body to the base.
Sherry
Adds aroma and a touch of flavour depth to the base.
Maraschino liqueur
Adds sweetness and a distinct cherry-like aroma.

The step that matters

Packing the mold in salt and ice. Salt lowers the melting point of the ice, letting the surrounding mixture get colder than ice alone. This helps the pudding freeze firmly and evenly without relying on a freezer alone.

Swap the vanilla

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (cream, sherry):

  1. Vanillathe original
  2. Strawberryfits about as well
  3. Raspberryfits less well
  4. Pineapplefits less well

Fit is the average pairing score against cream, sherry. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
