Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Eggs
Provide the structure and the rich yolk filling that gives the dish its body.
Toasted bread crumbs
Absorb and bind the yolks, giving the filling a firm, stuffable texture.

The step that matters

Packing the yolk mixture into the whites. Pack the filling in solidly so no air pockets remain. Loose filling can crumble or fall out when the stuffed eggs are fried.

Swap the garlic

How well each one fits the dish's main ingredients (egg, bread, pepper, spinach):

  1. Parsleyfits better
  2. Nutmegfits better
  3. Capersfits about as well
  4. Garlicthe original

Fit is the average pairing score against egg, bread, pepper, spinach. Candidates are from the same food group and used in at least 100 recipes.
