Queen Jelly Cake

Oven, in the book's wordsA medium oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a medium oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Prepare the sponge cake mixture.

  2. Spread the mixture in shallow pans about ½ inch thick.

  3. Bake in a moderate oven at 350°F (175°C) until done.

  4. Spread jam in the center of the baked cake.

  5. Frost the top with white frosting.

  6. Place chocolate frosting in a piping bag and drizzle it over the white frosting.

  7. Use a fork to create a crosshatch pattern with the chocolate frosting.
