Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Cauliflower
The main vegetable, cooked whole until tender throughout.
Butter
Adds richness and a silky mouthfeel to the cooked cauliflower.
Milk
Simmered with the water to give the cauliflower a mild, creamy flavour.

The step that matters

Boil the cauliflower in milk and water. The liquid must be kept at a steady simmer for the full 20 to 30 minutes so the dense head cooks through evenly. Boiling too hard can break up the florets, while too short a time leaves the core firm.
