To Make Wine From Any Kind of Berries
Ingredients
Directions
Prepare
Combine the berries and boiling water in a jar and let it sit overnight.
Strain the mixture and add 1 pint of white sugar for each quart of juice.
Ferment and bottle
Let it sit in the jar for 10 days, stirring several times a day to hasten fermentation.
After 10 days, skim and strain the liquid into bottles and seal them.
The wine will be ready to use in 6 months.

What each ingredient does
- Berries
- Provide the main flavor and color, and natural sugars for fermentation.
- White sugar
- Feeds the yeast, which turns it into alcohol and carbon dioxide, and adds sweetness.
The step that matters
Sealing the bottles. Fermentation keeps producing carbon dioxide after bottling. If the wine is sealed while fermentation is still active, the gas can build pressure in the bottles and they may burst.
