A Breakfast Dish

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cut the ripe tomatoes in half and place them cut side down in a shallow earthen dish.

  3. Fill the hollow of each tomato with butter, pepper, and coarse sea salt.

  4. Cover the tomatoes with fine bread crumbs.

  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
