What each ingredient does

Tea
Provides the main flavor and aroma as its compounds dissolve into the hot water.
Water
Acts as the solvent that extracts flavor from the tea leaves.

The step that matters

Serve immediately after steeping. Tea flavor fades over time once brewed, so serving soon after steeping keeps the flavor fresh. The record notes it will not hold its flavor for more than one hour.
