English Pork-pie

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Make a pie crust and line the sides and bottom of a deep pie dish.

  2. Layer thin slices of bacon, potatoes, onions, and pork in the dish.

  3. Season with pepper, coarse sea salt, and sage.

  4. Fill the dish with gravy or thickened water, adding some butter.

  5. Cover with the pie crust and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes.

  6. If the pie browns too quickly, cover it with thick brown paper.
