A Nice Fruit Cake

Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.

  3. Beat the egg yolks and whites separately, then add the yolks to the butter and sugar mixture.

  4. Mix in the spices, then add the molasses, followed by the fruit and flour alternately.

  5. If needed, add more flour based on the size of the eggs and the amount of flour used.

  6. Grease and line your baking pans with parchment paper.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
