Ranks compare each pair with 20,000 random ingredient pairs on CompKitchen. How we score pairs

What each ingredient does

Dark brown sugar
Provides sweetness and the deep caramel flavor as it cooks.
Butter
Adds fat and richness, rounding out the caramel flavor.
Sweet cream
Contributes fat and a smooth, creamy texture to the set dessert.
Gelatine
Sets the liquid mixture into a firm, sliceable body.

The step that matters

Dissolve the gelatine fully before adding it. Gelatine must be fully dissolved and evenly mixed into the hot liquid. Undissolved granules leave gritty or rubbery spots and an uneven set once chilled.
