To Make Butter
Ingredients
Directions
Ensure all vessels for milk are clean and sweet.
Use large tin pans for milk to allow cream to rise.
Wash empty vessels in cold water, then fill with scalding hot water and let sit until nearly cold.
Alternate the position of pans filled with hot water for efficient cleaning.
Scour pails and pans with soft soap and sand, then rinse with hot water and dry in the sun or by a fire.
For milk strainers, wash in cold water, then pour scalding water in and rinse with cold water before hanging to dry.
