Ingredients

Directions

The book gives no oven temperature. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps was added when the recipe was transcribed, as a starting point.

Prepare

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Layer and bake

  1. Sprinkle dry bread crumbs or grated crackers on the bottom of a baking dish.

  2. Layer oysters on top of the crumbs, followed by another layer of crumbs, and repeat until you reach the desired quantity.

  3. Dot the top with lumps of butter and season with coarse sea salt and black pepper.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven and serve hot.

What each ingredient does

Dry bread crumbs or grated crackers
Form the absorbent layers that soak up oyster liquor and hold the dish together.
Butter
