Jelly Kisses

Oven, in the book's wordsA moderate oven

Ingredients

Directions

The book says “a moderate oven”. The 350°F (175°C) in the steps is the modern equivalent, not the book's own figure.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Bake the kisses until the outside is slightly hardened.

  3. Carefully remove one kiss and scoop out the soft inside with the handle of a spoon.

  4. Return the soft inside to the mixture to make more kisses.

  5. Lay the empty shell down.

  6. Repeat with another kiss and fill the shells with currant jelly or jam.

  7. Join two shells together, using some of the mixture to cement them.

  8. Continue until you have enough jelly kisses.
